We had some challenging courses last Sunday at Carraig na Seabhac, where Ajax provided the day’s orienteering. Very cold conditions with a north wind, but not as bad as the last time we ran there when there were lots of DNF’s. The longer courses covered both sides of the Glenmacnass valley, with the open mountain on one side and the forest on the other. It’s rare to run in an area with essentially no paths or tracks, so well done to planner Aonghus OCléirigh on getting the full range of courses planned. Well done to Clara Kilper and Amalia Naughton, 2nd and 3rd on the Red course, and to Eoin Riordan for tackling a long Brown course and finishing 5th. See results and routes here.

The Munster Championships are on this Sunday – good luck to the 3ROC members travelling to the event at Kilcoran, Co. Tipperary. If you haven’t entered but would like a run, there are some non-Championship courses available for entry on the day. See details here.

The following Sunday (November 20th) you have a choice – a come-and-try-it event at the Hellfire Club, with junior training beforehand (see the 3ROC Facebook page for details) or an urban event at Dungarvan, Co. Waterford on a new 1:5000 scale map.

Finally, we’d like to express our sympathy to Ronan and Trina Cleary on the death of their mother, Kitty, last weekend.
