3ROC News 9th February 2016

pancakeShrove Tuesday today, so just over 6 weeks training left before the JK in Yorkshire at Easter! There are a number of 3ROC members going and we expect to have two Junior relay teams and maybe some adult teams too. In the meantime, though don’t forget …

… the 2016 Annual General Meeting this Friday (12th) at Ballinteer St John’s GAA Club, where the course for the next year will be set, where the club membership cards and the new 3ROC pens will be given out and where the international representation support grants to members will be awarded. Please make an effort to come along in this, our 40th year.

This weekend is also a Junior Training weekend with the time trial in the Phoenix Park followed by the UCDO event at Belfield on Saturday afternoon – open to everyone, not just students. Start times 1 pm to 3 pm  and an invitation to the Campus bar to watch the Ireland v France rogby match at 3 pm. See details here. Sunday sees Setanta running a Leinster League event at Oakwood, a few km west of the Wicklow Gap – the area used for the 2015 Irish Champs Relays. Details here.

Good fun running around Trinity College last Saturday for the first of the Campus Series, followed by the final Dublin by Night at Rockbrook Park School.  No more night-O until next winter, unless you take in some events like the Jukola in Finland, the Tio Mila in Sweden or the Harvester Trophy in the UK. The Campus events are more “urban race” than “sprint” because of their length – Sprint events typically have a winning time of 12 to 15 minutes.

Well done to the “3ROC+1” team of Colm Moran, Cillín Corbett and Aidan and John McCullough who won the DUO table quiz after the Trinity Campus Sprint!

Our next event is on March 6th in the Phoenix Park – a local event which Aidan McCullough has offered to plan. we’ll need some helpers on the day, so don’t be shy – it will be practice for us in advance of the Leinster Championships on April 17th at Glenealy. Keep in touch via the Leinster Championships 2016 Facebook page here.

Speaking of which, Leinster Champs entries are open here:
