3ROC News February 16th 2015

A couple of changes to the fixtures list for you: Saturday night “Dublin by Night” at Deerpark, Mount Merrion and Sunday at Cahore sand dunes, near Gorey. The Deerpark event, run by UCDO, was postponed from last month and will be the final DBN event of the season. Deerpark is near Mount Anville school near the top of Foster Avenue. Two courses, start 6.30 to 7.30 pm, over-16’s only.

On Sunday, Fingal are running a Leinster League event at Cahore, Co. Wexford, a long and narrow strip of sand dunes used only for the 2013 Leinster Championships.  The event, not far from Arklow,  is being run jointly with Waterford Orienteers anbd was originally to have been held at Castlemorris in Co. Kilkenny. Details here.

Last weekend’s event at Glen of the Downs saw some more good results from 3ROC:  Colm Moran was first on the Long course, his sister Clodagh was first on the Medium course, and M10 Cuan Riordan finished fastest on the short course.

Meanwhile, the AGM on Friday night saw a committee of Emma McAuley,  Ger Butler, Gerry Cunningham, John McCullough, Lindie Naughton and Nadya Dunne being elected. Gerry is the Treasurer and John the Honorary Manager. Pat Flanagan stepped down but will still retain an interest in mapping. Thanks for everyone for coming along.

Club grants were presented to Colm and Clodagh Moran, Mary O’Connell, Ger Butler, John, Eoin, Cliona and Aidan McCullough for representing Ireland last year. Well done everyone!

Getting ready for our next event at St Catherine’s Park, Lucan, on 1st March: helpers wanted! We’re expecting lots of beginners.
