This week’s orienteering October 20-27

Remember to enter the Munster Championships (at Muckross, Killarney on Sunday November 2nd) by Thursday 23rd October! See Kerry O here for details.

This weekend, Waterford Orienteers have an ambitious programme of orienteering, with a night event on the sand dunes at Tramore on Saturday, a Leinster (and Munster and South East) league event on the extended map of Castlecomer Discovery Park on Sunday and an urban race on a new map of the medieval centre of Waterford City on Monday. See WatO here  and here for details.

Also on Saturday is Fermanagh Orienteers event at Crossmurrin. See the FermO website here for details.

We have new 3ROC O-tops coming – have you ordered yours yet? Contact lindie.naughton@gmail.com to order or get details.

Well done to the Irish Senior Team, finishing 3rd at last weekend’s Senior Home International. Sorry to hear that Ger Butler injured his ankle in the individual race and didn’t finish, though the other two 3ROC representatives, Eoin and Cliona McCullough had reasonable runs.

This Wednesday sees Brian Hollinshead’s lecture on Open Street Map at the RDS ; see the details in last week’s post. Tickets should still be available from the RDS and they’re free.

Training as usual on Monday and Thursday evening at Belfield (not on the Bank Holiday) and circuits on Wednesday. Is anyone doing the Dublin Marathon this year? Time was when lots of orienteers did it.

Watch out for the closing date for the Connacht Championships too – the event is at Strandhill, Co. Sligo on 16th November.

That’s all for this week …
