This week’s orienteering: October 28-November 2

castlecomercastlecomercastlecomerWhat a great little area that was at Castlecomer for the combined Leinster and Munster league event on Sunday, particularly the wonderful quarry/sand-pit section in the north east corner: a real find! Andrew Cox’s courses made full use of this part of the area and there was a lot of squinting at contours and head-scratching going on. See the map on Routegadget here and the results here. Some 3ROCkers also took in Saturday night’s night-O on the dunes at Tramore and the Waterford City urban race on Monday, so a pretty busy weekend all in all.

Next Sunday we have the Munster Championships at Muckross, Killarney: entries are officially closed but it may still be possible to get a run if you ask Kerry orienteers nicely.

Remember the entries close for the Connacht Championships at Strandhill, Co. Sligo (November 16th) on 31st October. See details here.

If you missed Brian Hollinshead’s talk on Open Street Map at the RDS on Wednesday, you missed an interesting hour: but you can still find out about OSM at openstreetmap.org

Meanwhile, the new 3ROC orienteering tops are being ordered so contact lindie if you want details; training continues at Belfield on Monday and Thursday at 6.30 pm.

Our next 3ROC event is at Griffeen Valley Park, Lucan on Saturday November 29th and we’ll need some helpers on the day.

More next week …
