3ROC News 3rd November 2015

What a great day’s orienteering we had on the Featherbeds on Sunday, thanks to Ajax! Summertime has returned, with the Sugarloaf in the distance peeping up through the clouds. Tough going underfoot, with every turf bank adding another metre to the climb on the course, and good runs from Scott Dunne (1st on Yellow), Colm Moran (3rd on Brown), Caoimhe May (3rd Light Green), Oisín May (3rd Orange), Eoin Riordan (4th on Blue).

This Saturday, LVO are running an NI Series event at Tyrella, Co. Down, on a super sand dune area used for the 2011 JK. If you plan to go, you need to contact the organisers before midday on Thursday to get security clearance to enter the area – without this you can’t run. See details here.

Locally, Setanta are running a come-and-try-it event at Knocksink Wood at Enniskerry on Sunday: see details here. The forest was small, steep and muddy the last time I ran there but, on the other hand, the 44 bus from Dublin goes right past it so it’s easy to get to. Bus times here. Bus 185 from Bray times here.

You’re still in time to enter the Connacht Championships at Oakport, Co. Roscommon, on November 15th, although not at the original price. Details here.

New 3ROC O-gear is on order: O-tops, legs and lightweight running jackets. Contact the club using the contact panel at the top right of this page for details.

Training continues on Monday and Thursday evenings at Belfield.

Our next come-and-try-it  event is at Griffeen Park, Lucan, on Sunday November 29th: volunteers wanted!

See you in the forest.
