Happy New Year!

Where was King Wenceslas when we needed him? Instead of the snow lying deep and crisp and even, we had rain and mist on Three Rock Mountain on St Stephen’s Day for the Christmas Score Event. Nevertheless, about 120 runners took part, with Laurence Quinn finding all 22 controls on the 50 minute Long course in 46.01, just 3 minutes faster than his brother Jonny. On the Short (30 minute) course, four people shared the honours, where two Oisíns (Wickham and May), Caoimhe May and Sandra Velthuis all had 100 points.

Conditions were poor, but not as bad as last year, and we hope you all enjoyed your runs and the special hot drinks afterwards. A few hardy sould took to the hills on Christmas Day for the Christmas run from Ticknock: windy and wet, with some ice on the upper tracks, but just the thing to work up an appetite!

See the results here.

Our next event (actually the next event in Leinster) is our night-O in the Phoenix Park on Friday 8th January. This is the first in the “Dublin by Night” series. More details closer to the time.

Good luck to our Colm Moran who, after running in the St Stephen’s Day event, was travelling to South Africa with Cillín Corbett and Áine McCann to run in the “Big-5 O” in Gauteng from December 29th to January 3rd.

Another date for your diary is the club AGM on Friday February 12th at Ballinteer St John’s GAA club. It’s time to pay your annual subscription and collect your unique 3ROC pen and membership card!

Happy New Year!
