This week’s orienteering: March 3-10

Well done to 3ROC’s Eoin McCullough (representing Trinity College) and Colm Moran (representing UCD), finishing 2nd and 3rd in the Intervarsity Orienteering Championships in Clarabeg last Sunday in testing conditions of wind and rain. A fair number of other 3ROC runners were out for the event, plus Gerry Cunningham providing help putting out controls the day before. Eoin and Colm finished 3rd and 4th in the sprint event in Trinity College the day before.

There’s no local orienteering this weekend, but WatO are running a South-East league event at Woodstock, Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny on Sunday and, if you want to go North, Fermanagh Orienteers have an event at Florencecourt the same day. Details of these events are on the IOA fixtures pages. (Meanwhitle on Friday night LVO are running a night Trail-O on Friday and there’s an event in Duke’s Wood, Crookstown, Co Cork on Sunday too …)

Pine Forest event: We’re running a Leinster Sprint Series event on a new map of the Pine Forest, Rockbrook, on Sunday 30th March. Trina Cleary is planning and Pat Flanagan controlling. Can you help at the event? If so, e-mail 3rockoc@gmail.com

After the event you can try the Zipit aerial walkway and zipwire course on the Pine Forest map at Tibradden.

Before that, we’re launching a new map of Deaf Village Ireland (DVI) in Cabra on Saturday 22nd March. More details later.

Fitness training continues on Monday and Thursday evenings at Belfield; free 5 km ParkRuns at Marlay and other parks at 09.30 on Saturday.
