This week’s orienteering: November 11-17

Good to see lots of 3ROC members (includind club Treasurer Gerry Cunningham, above) out at the Hellfire Club last Sunday – did you notice the fine views of Carlingford and the Mourne Mountains from the top? Well done Eoin McCullough for winning the long course, Brian Hollinshead for winning the short and, incredibly, Eoin Rothery (listed as 3ROC) winning the Medium course: Eoin is based in Australia and hasn’t been a member of 3ROC since the 1970’s.

Another event close to Dublin next Sunday, in the grounds of Castletown House at Celbridge, just into Co. Kildare. Fingal Orienteers are running a  Leinster Autumn Series colour event there, with terrain varying from low visibility forest to parkland, bodering on the banks of the Liffey.  Start times 11 am to 1 pm as usual. Here is an earlier event where you can see the map and courses from 2011.

Club fitness training continues at Belfield on Monday and Thursday at 6.30 pm.

If you’re not doing anything on Wednesday, Mary Healy could use some extra help at the Leinster primary schools event at Cabinteely Park.

Next weekend if you’d like to go further afield, there’s also a WATO event at the JFK Forest Park, near New Ross, Co. Wexford on Sunday 17th.
