3ROC News 30th March 2015

A big thank you to all the club members who came out in some pretty bad conditions to help at our last event before the summer at the Pine Forest on Sunday 29th. We had a good turnout of orienteers and even a few hardy beginners. Particular thanks to Colm Moran (Planner) and Gerry Cunningham (Controller).

Several good runs from club members, too – they weren’t all saving themselves for control collection duties afterwards. Eoin McCullough had a superb run to finish 10 minutes clear of the field on a gruelling Brown course, with Ger Butler 5th; a very solid run from M16 Eoin Riordan on the Blue course saw him finish 6th, while Caoimhe and Oisín May took top spots on the Orange course.

A short break from orienteering over Easter, where a group of 3Rockers will join 3000 others at the Jan Kjellstrom O-Festval in the English Lake District for a Sprint, two Long races and a Relay over the weekend.

Back home we have GEN’s League event at Trooperstown on April 12th, with the Leinster Championships on the 19th at Lough Firrib: see details here. Cheapest entries are before 8th April with a higher rate up to the 16th.

Remember: New O-tops available from the club; annual subscriptions are due if you haven’t paid yet (the form is here).

Happy Easter and good Orienteering!
